Chelsea are reportedly considering Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel as a potential rival to Manchester United in the race for his signature.
The move comes after Chelsea's concerns over Robert Sanchez’s recent form, including several high-profile mistakes, with one leading to a goal in a 3-1 loss to Manchester City. Despite manager Enzo Maresca's reluctance to publicly criticize Sanchez, there is internal acknowledgment that he may not be the right fit for Chelsea's style.
United is also reportedly eyeing Kobel, but they have other pressing issues to address. Chelsea won't pursue a goalkeeper in the January window, with 22-year-old Filip Jorgensen and 19-year-old Mike Penders seen as promising options for the future. Maresca’s high-risk approach has led to mistakes from Sanchez but is considered part of the team’s overall strategy.
