Chelsea captain Reece James has suffered another hamstring injury during training, as confirmed by manager Enzo Maresca. James, who missed much of last season due to hamstring surgery, will miss Chelsea's upcoming match against Leicester.
Maresca downplayed the severity of the injury but acknowledged James's uncertain recovery timeline, with the player likely unavailable for the Conference League match next Thursday.
James has struggled with recurring hamstring injuries, marking his eighth such injury in four years.
Despite surgery to address these issues, he has faced numerous setbacks, including knee, thigh, and ankle injuries. Since returning in October, James has yet to complete a full season of games and has been sidelined from international duty with England since March 2023.
