New Edubiase United owner Abdul Salam Yakubu has called on club administrators to stop bribing referees, stressing that it harms Ghanaian football.

In a recent interview, he blamed poor officiating in both the topflight and lower divisions on club officials influencing referees to secure wins.

Yakubu highlighted that lobbying referees has become a norm because the Ghana Football Association (GFA) does not adequately support them.

However, he believes club administrators must take responsibility and prioritize fair play for the game’s integrity. He also pointed out that excessive focus on referees sometimes causes clubs to neglect their players.

Meanwhile, after a five-week break due to the tragic death of Asante Kotoko fan Francis Frimpong, also known as Nana Pooley, the Ghana Premier League resumes this weekend at various venues.
