Former Asante Kotoko coach Isaac Opeele Boateng has reacted to Serwaa Amihere. She is a media personality who commented on the Ghana Premier League's marketing.
Amihere expressed disappointment over low attendance at Sunday’s Super Clash. This match was between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium. She criticized the Ghana Football Association (GFA) under Kurt Okraku for not improving the league's appeal.
She urged the GFA to enhance stadium security and invest in marketing. Amihere also suggested better incentives for referees and improved playing conditions. However, Coach Opeele dismissed her views as "shallow" and lacking context.
Opeele pointed out that Amihere has limited knowledge of football. He advised her to be cautious when commenting on the sport. He stated that Ghana football’s challenges are complex and not solely the GFA's fault.
He posted on X, “Serwaa Amihere, come again! Your shallow look at Ghana football is weirdly insipid.” He compared her comments to a sports journalist discussing politics instead of sports.
The Kotoko-Hearts of Oak game ended in a 0-0 draw. Fans and pundits questioned the low attendance and called for efforts to revive interest in the league.
