Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappe will play in the Copa del Rey final. He received a one-match ban for his red card against Alaves.
Mbappe was sent off during Madrid's 1-0 La Liga win on Sunday. He lunged at Alaves midfielder Antonio Blanco, resulting in a straight red card.
The referee reported that Mbappe's actions were violent conduct. This could lead to a ban of one to three matches. A commission decided on the lenient option of a one-match ban.
The decision was influenced by the referee’s note that Mbappe was "disputing the ball." The Spanish Football Federation confirmed the suspension and additional fines under Article 52 of the Civil Code.
As a result, Mbappe will miss the La Liga match against Athletic Club Bilbao on April 20. Real Madrid is currently second in La Liga, four points behind Barcelona.
This season, Mbappe has scored 33 goals in 49 appearances for Madrid. Carlo Ancelotti’s team will face Arsenal in the Champions League quarter-finals on Wednesday night. They aim to overturn a 3-0 defeat from the first leg in London.
