*Côte d'Ivoire has officially withdrawn from hosting the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, just weeks before the tournament's scheduled kickoff from April 26 to May 18.
The decision, announced by the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) on March 25, 2025, follows a letter from the Ivorian government citing its inability to host the 24th edition of the competition.
With Côte d'Ivoire pulling out, CAF now faces the urgent task of securing a new host to ensure the tournament proceeds as planned.
FIF President Yacine Idriss Diallo expressed regret over the situation, acknowledging the efforts of those who had worked on preparations.
While no official reason has been given for the withdrawal, reports suggest logistical and financial challenges played a role.
CAF must now act swiftly to find a replacement venue amid growing concerns over the feasibility of hosting major sporting events.
