Chelsea’s Premier League title hopes suffered another setback after a 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace. Despite controlling much of the match and taking the lead through Cole Palmer’s first-half goal, Chelsea failed to capitalize on their advantage.
Palmer’s 13th goal of the season, assisted by Jadon Sancho, was followed by wasted chances, allowing Palace to equalize in the 82nd minute. Eberechi Eze’s pass set up Jean-Philippe Mateta for the goal. This draw extended Chelsea’s winless streak to four league games, following defeats to Fulham and Ipswich Town, and a draw at Everton.
Chelsea now sits just one point ahead of fifth-place Newcastle, who defeated Tottenham earlier in the day, leaving their title challenge hanging by a thread.
