Eddie Nketiah, a Crystal Palace attacker, values his surname on his shirt. He believes it means "everything" to him. It makes many people proud of their heritage.
Nketiah is English-born but has Ghanaian roots. He has worn 'Nketiah' on his kit since childhood. He embraces his African heritage and never shies away from it.
He feels that having his surname gives pride to those from his background. In an interview with NBC's By Way of Africa, he said, "It means everything."
Many in his family wanted to be footballers but couldn't succeed. Through Eddie, they can experience that dream vicariously. They feel pride when they see him play and celebrate achievements.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has targeted Nketiah to represent the Black Stars. Currently, he is enjoying football in South London. Recently, he scored in Palace's FA Cup win, securing a semifinal spot.
