Former Member of Parliament for Okere, Dan Botwe, emphasizes shared responsibility in education.
He believes the privileged should help the underprivileged succeed academically.
At a durbar in Adukrom, he thanked the community for 16 years as MP.
Mr. Botwe highlighted his educational initiatives that benefited many constituents. He stressed the importance of supporting future generations.
To further aid Okere's development, Mr. Botwe donated GHS 350,000 to the Okere Community Educational Fund. This donation was made through the Master Darko Foundation, honoring his late father.
The towns benefiting from this fund include Abiriw, Dawu, Awukugua, Adukrom, Apiredi, Aseseeso, and Abonse. Each town will receive GHS 50,000 for its educational fund.
Members of the clergy and traditional leaders will manage this community fund. Mr. Botwe stated that funds will be distributed based on applicants' needs.
"I am the luckiest MP in the fourth Republic," he said. He appreciated support from chiefs and even political opponents during his tenure.
Though retired from Parliament, he remains committed to Okere's development. His donation is part of his gratitude to the community.
He urged residents to support new MP Daniel Kenneth Nana Addo as well.
"Now you have two MPs," he noted. "I will continue following up on development projects."
Nifahene of Akuapem and Adukromhene Osuodumgya Otutu Ababio encouraged youth to avoid drug abuse and focus on education.
He warned that investment in education would not benefit if young people do not learn actively.
He called on all stakeholders to prioritize Okere's development regardless of political beliefs.
