Ghanaian midfielder Daniel-Kofi Kyereh’s return to competitive football will take longer than expected, according to SC Freiburg coach Julian Schuster.
Kyereh, 28, has been sidelined for nearly two years following a cruciate ligament tear, and there is no clear timeline for his recovery.
Schuster emphasized the importance of rebuilding general fitness after such a long absence, noting that the recovery process varies for each player.
Kyereh joined Freiburg in June 2022 and made an immediate impact, scoring his first Bundesliga goal and another in a Europa League match. However, his progress was halted by the injury.
Schuster urged patience as Kyereh continues his recovery, acknowledging the challenge posed by the injury’s extended duration.
