Decision to retain Otto Addo as Black Stars coach was surprising - Kudjoe Fianoo

Former GHALCA chairman Kudjoe Fianoo has expressed disappointment over the decision to retain Otto Addo as head coach of the Black Stars, despite the team's failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Ghana missed AFCON for the first time in 20 years, finishing bottom of their qualifying group.

Many fans and stakeholders called for Addo's dismissal, but the Ghana Football Association (GFA) decided to keep him, strengthening the team's backroom staff ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Fianoo questioned the rationale behind this decision, stressing the need for the right players to be selected and a coaching change to ensure the team's success in future tournaments.
