Didier Deschamps, the current coach of the France national football team, has confirmed he will step down after the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
Deschamps, who has been in charge since 2012, guided France to World Cup victory in 2018 and led them to the final in 2022, where they lost to Argentina in a penalty shootout. Despite recent criticism following France’s semi-final exit at Euro 2024, Deschamps has decided that his tenure will end after the 2026 tournament, marking his fourth World Cup with the team.
Deschamps, who also won the 1998 World Cup as a player, hopes to leave France at the top of international football. His current contract expires in 2026.
