Andy Murray will no longer coach Novak Djokovic.
This decision was made by mutual agreement. Murray will not be with Djokovic at Wimbledon in July.
Djokovic, a 24-time Grand Slam champion, teamed up with Murray in November. Under Murray's guidance, Djokovic reached the Australian Open semi-finals. He retired injured after losing the first set.
The 37-year-old has struggled this season. He lost his first match in four of his last five tournaments. He also lost to 19-year-old Jakub Mensik in the Miami Open final.
Djokovic expressed gratitude to Murray: "Thank you, coach Andy, for all your hard work." He appreciated their friendship over the past six months.
Murray responded: "Thanks to Novak for this incredible opportunity." He thanked Djokovic's team for their efforts and wished him well for the rest of the season.
Despite promising beginnings, the partnership lasted only four tournaments.
Murray was present in Miami when Djokovic reached the final without dropping a set. However, he lost to Mensik in two close tie-breakers.
Djokovic has taken a wildcard into next week's Geneva Open. So far, he has not won a match on clay this year.
He was defeated in the first round of the Monte Carlo Masters as clay-court season began. Djokovic missed this month's Italian Open without explanation.
In February, Djokovic mentioned their arrangement was indefinite. "We agreed to work mostly in the U.S., then some clay-court tournaments," he said at that time.
Ultimately, it did not go as planned but was enjoyable while it lasted.
Djokovic praised Murray during the Australian Open. He noted that coaching comes naturally to him despite lacking experience.
"I'm pleasantly surprised by his dedication and professionalism," Djokovic said in January.
"He understands when to speak and what to say," he added about Murray's insights on tennis and life.
Murray felt embarrassed by all the attention he received in Melbourne. He acknowledged that Djokovic's wider team had done an incredible job over many years.
