Bukayo Saka scored just seven minutes after returning from injury. He had been out for 101 days. Saka helped Arsenal beat Fulham at Emirates Stadium. He came off the bench in the second half with the score at 1-0. Saka headed in Gabriel Martinelli's flick at the far post on 73 minutes.
Mikel Merino gave Arsenal the lead in the 37th minute. His shot deflected into the corner after Ethan Nwaneri's cut-back. Rodrigo Muniz pulled a goal back for Fulham in stoppage time. His shot was deflected by William Saliba, wrong-footing goalkeeper David Raya. The win moved Arsenal within nine points of leaders Liverpool.
It was a mixed night for Arsenal. They welcomed Saka back from his serious hamstring injury. However, they lost centre-back Gabriel early in the first half. This is a concern for manager Mikel Arteta, as they face Real Madrid next week.
Fulham defended deep throughout the match. They should have scored earlier when Muniz headed wide from six yards out. Arsenal will play Everton on Saturday in the Premier League. Then, they will prepare for their quarter-final against Real Madrid at home on Tuesday.
