Cole Palmer responded to "social media idiots" after scoring in Chelsea's 3-1 win over Liverpool. This victory puts Chelsea fifth in the Premier League.
Palmer scored a stoppage-time penalty, ending his goal drought. He had not scored in 13 games since joining Chelsea for £42.5 million from Manchester City in September 2023. Before this match, he had two assists and no goals in his last 12 appearances.
After the game, Palmer told Sky Sports, “We played very well as a team.” He acknowledged Liverpool's status as champions but emphasized Chelsea's desire to win.
He said, “I just felt normal. S— happens... sorry for my language.” Palmer noted that going three months without scoring motivated him to improve.
He criticized social media, saying it is "full of idiots." He added, “I’ve scored today and I’m happy, but it’s only one.”
Palmer expressed pride in helping his team and mentioned feeling mentally strong. He believes getting chances without scoring feels like letting the team down.
Arne Slot made six changes to his lineup after winning the Premier League title last weekend. However, he denied that his team dropped their standards during the match.
