Manchester United is increasing their interest in Bryan Mbeumo, sources say. They are working on a deal for the Brentford forward. This comes after completing their move for Wolves' striker Matheus Cunha.
At Old Trafford, there is optimism that Mbeumo wants to join. This is despite United's failure to qualify for Europe. Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap chose Chelsea over United due to their Champions League participation.
Mbeumo impressed Ruben Amorim by scoring 20 goals last season. The 25-year-old has netted 70 goals in 242 appearances for Brentford since 2019. He is under contract until 2026, with an option for another year.
Brentford values him at over £50 million, but United hopes to negotiate a lower fee. Crystal Palace forward Eberechi Eze is another option for United. However, it may be hard to lure the England international from Selhurst Park.
United plans to finalize their move for Cunha after the international break. The Brazil international has completed his medical and signed a five-year contract. His £62.5 million release clause was triggered in the process.
