EPL on Citi: Nottingham Forest beat Spurs in London to climb back to third

Nottingham Forest boosted their Champions League hopes with a win over Tottenham. This victory moved them back up to third in the Premier League.

Tottenham started the day in sixth place. They were determined to improve their position at home. The match took place at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Forest opened the scoring just five minutes into the game. Elliot Anderson's powerful volley deflected off Rodrigo Bentancur and went in.

Spurs have struggled in the league this season. Although they won against Eintracht Frankfurt last Thursday, they could not maintain that momentum. They had possession but lacked threat, allowing Forest to score again.

In the 16th minute, Chris Wood headed in from Anthony Elanga’s cross. This was Wood's 19th goal of the Premier League season, showing his importance to Forest.

Towards the end of the first half, Mathys Tel missed a chance while unmarked. Richarlison, making his first start since February, also missed a close-range header.

In the second half, Harry Toffolo made a crucial goalline clearance against Dejan Kulusevski. Later, Matz Sels made an excellent save to deny Richarlison.

Spurs came alive late in the game and scored with three minutes left. Richarlison finally beat Sels with a header to make it 2-1.

Despite this, Forest held on for victory and moved closer to securing European football next season.
