Enzo Maresca chose not to criticize the controversial penalty awarded to Ipswich Town in Chelsea's 2-0 defeat on Monday.
The penalty came after a collision between Ipswich's Liam Delap and Chelsea’s stand-in goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen, who appeared to pull out of the challenge. Despite the incident seeming soft, VAR confirmed the referee's on-field decision, ruling there was sufficient contact. Maresca acknowledged his players were unhappy with the call but emphasized the need to accept it.
Delap, who scored the penalty, insisted he felt enough contact to go down, stating he knew Jorgensen would touch him if he didn’t get the ball first. Delap added that he was happy to score after several previous missed penalty opportunities.
