Ghana international Ernest Nuamah's season is over. He suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury over the weekend.
The winger left the field in the seventh minute of a match. This was during Olympique Lyon's game against Lille on Saturday, April 5.
Nuamah got injured after a duel with Lille defender Gabriel Gudmundsson. He had to leave the game two minutes later. Lyon went on to win 2-1 at home.
Tests by the Lyon medical team confirmed he ruptured his ligament. This injury ends his season abruptly.
Nuamah will be out for an extended period. He is now the fourth Ghanaian to suffer an ACL injury this season. Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Alidu Seidu, and Abdul Mumin also faced similar injuries.
Nuamah has been crucial for Lyon this season. He scored three goals and provided one assist in league play. In nine UEFA Europa League appearances, he has the same goal and assist numbers.
