Swedish coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren marked his first victory as head coach of the Black Queens with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Senegal in Dakar on Saturday, April 5.
Evelyn Badu scored the decisive goal, heading home from a well-delivered Princess Marfo cross in the 35th minute.
The match marked Germany-based Josephine Bonsu’s first start for Ghana, as Bjorkegren made two changes to his lineup from the last match against Morocco.
Although the Queens dominated early, they were reduced to 10 players after Anasthesia Achiaa received a second yellow card.
Goalkeeper Cynthia Konlan produced a crucial save to preserve the lead.
The win was Ghana’s first since defeating Namibia in the 2024 WAFCON qualifiers.
The two sides are set to clash again on April 8 to conclude the international break.
