The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has dismissed reports that newly appointed technical advisor Winfried Schafer will earn a $65,000 monthly salary, calling them false and misleading.
Schafer, a 75-year-old German coach who led Cameroon to AFCON glory in 2002, has also been named the GFA’s director of football.
His role includes advising Black Stars head coach Otto Addo, developing long-term strategies, and enhancing youth development.
Ghana recently failed to qualify for AFCON 2025 and sits second in its 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying group.
In a broader coaching reshuffle, Desmond Ofei is now Black Stars assistant coach, Kris Perquy has been named team psychologist, and Gregory de Grauwe is chief video analyst.
The team will now focus on upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.
