Cesc Fabregas has weighed in on Serie A’s recent refereeing controversies, arguing that the issue lies with VAR protocols rather than the officials.
Several contentious decisions in the 24th round, including Fikayo Tomori’s red card and a disputed corner leading to Inter’s goal against Fiorentina, have sparked debate.
Fiorentina coach Rafaelle Palladino and Inter’s Simone Inzaghi both expressed concerns, while Italian Referees’ Association President Antonio Zappi admitted dissatisfaction with VAR’s implementation.
Speaking ahead of Como’s match against Fiorentina, Fabregas emphasized his respect for referees but criticized inconsistent VAR interventions.
He noted that many coaches share his concerns, as similar incidents are interpreted differently.
Fabregas hopes for improvements but doubts the controversy will end anytime soon.
