Trent Alexander-Arnold will join Real Madrid on Sunday, June 1. Liverpool accepted a fee to release him early from his contract.
Sources say the fee is 10 million euros (£8.4 million). Real Madrid made this payment as a single, up-front amount. However, some sources claim the actual amount is lower.
The payment allows Alexander-Arnold to play in the Club World Cup. The 26-year-old could have left Liverpool for free on June 30. He confirmed he would leave this summer and has agreed to a six-year deal.
His contract includes a buy-out clause of 1 billion euros (£840 million). FIFA approved an additional transfer window from June 1-10. This allows teams to register new players for the Club World Cup starting on June 14 in the United States.
Real Madrid's first game is against Al-Hilal on June 18 in Miami. Before that, Alexander-Arnold may add to his England caps. He was named in the squad for a World Cup qualifier against Andorra on June 7 and a friendly against Senegal on June 10.
Shortly after confirming Alexander-Arnold's move, Liverpool signed Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen for 35 million euros (£29.5 million).
