Former Chelsea star Florent Malouda, 44, has taken an unexpected career turn by joining the French military in French Guiana.
The UEFA Champions League winner has signed up with the 3rd Forest Infantry Regiment’s citizens' reserve, focusing on promoting military values rather than serving as an active soldier.
Malouda, originally from Cayenne, French Guiana, shared his experience in military gear on Instagram, highlighting the importance of teamwork and resilience—values he linked to his football career.
During his time at Chelsea, Malouda won 12 major trophies before retiring in 2018.
He later played briefly for French Guiana's national team. Now, he is embracing this unique role, blending his skills and heritage to support the military’s mission while staying connected to his roots.
