Former Defence Minister raises alarm over financial neglect on sports infrastructure

Former Defence Minister Dominic Nitiwul has issued a warning. He says Ghana's sports infrastructure may deteriorate without maintenance funds.

Parliament approved 65 million cedis for the Sports Ministry. However, none of this money is allocated for infrastructure maintenance.

In Parliament, Nitiwul highlighted the risks to facilities used for the African Games. He noted that these facilities need proper funding to remain functional.

He stated, "The current Ministry will need significant capital injection." This is necessary to maintain the infrastructure developed for the All African Games.

Nitiwul pointed out that there is no capital expenditure in the budget. He emphasized that finance should address this issue because sports are vital, especially football.

He added, "You cannot have a situation where the Sports Ministry has nothing." There isn't even 10 million cedis available for the Sports Minister to maintain pitches.
