Former Villarreal defender facing potential second stint in jail after arrest in Lisbon

Ruben Semedo, a former Villarreal and Benfica defender, was arrested for the fourth time, facing charges of domestic violence and kidnapping.

The 29-year-old was detained after his partner allegedly was locked inside their home and later sought hospital treatment for injuries. She reported the incident to authorities, leading to his arrest.

Semedo, who currently plays for Al-Khor in Qatar, recently spoke about moving past his legal troubles.

However, this arrest threatens his ability to return to Doha, as his passport could be confiscated.

Semedo has a history of legal issues, including a 2018 prison sentence for kidnap and illegal weapons possession, as well as accusations of rape and domestic violence during stints in Greece.
