Bernard Quartey is the President of the Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF). He has reaffirmed the Federation's commitment to developing young boxing talent. This follows a strong performance by three athletes at the 2025 African Youth Boxing Championship. The event took place in Conakry, Guinea.
Gideon Pappoe, George Dowuona, and Mathias Ashitey all won gold medals. After their success, Mr. Quartey expressed his dedication to advancing their careers. He aims to integrate them into Ghana’s national boxing team, the Black Bombers.
“We will ensure they train hard at the national level,” he stated. “We believe in their potential and will support their growth.” Mr. Quartey highlighted that this achievement is just the beginning for these athletes.
The GBF is focused on long-term development for its boxers. The ultimate goal is to help them win international accolades for Ghana.
