Kurt Okraku, the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has some news. A new broadcasting partner for the Ghana Premier League will be announced soon.
This announcement follows the end of their agreement with StarTimes. The GFA ended this partnership due to an outstanding debt of $950,000. Their contract concluded at the end of the 2023/24 football season.
Currently, both the league and FA Cup lack an official broadcaster. However, Mr. Okraku is confident in Ghana’s top-flight football. He believes it remains a marketable product that can attract new media partners.
"Our Premier League is interesting enough to attract TV partners," he said on GhOne TV. "We will announce a new partner soon."
Mr. Okraku explained why they terminated the partnership: “They owe GFA $950,000.” Meanwhile, local stations like Adom TV and Metro TV continue to air matches from the Ghana Premier League and FA Cup.
