Kurt Okraku, President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has a new role. He is now the Second Vice President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). This appointment is a significant milestone in his career.
CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe announced the news at a press conference. The event took place in Accra on Saturday, April 26, 2025. Okraku was elected unopposed to the CAF Executive Committee in March.
President Motsepe nominated Okraku for this position. The Executive Committee approved his nomination during their meeting in Accra. Okraku succeeds Ahmed Yahya as Second Vice President.
He joins a new leadership team focused on inclusivity and regional representation. The other newly appointed CAF Vice Presidents are:
- First Vice President: Fouzi Lekjaa from Morocco.
- Third Vice President: Pierre-Alain Mounguengui from Gabon.
- Fourth Vice President: Bestine Kazadi Ditabala from the Democratic Republic of Congo.
- Fifth Vice President: Feizal Sidat from Mozambique.
Kazadi Ditabala is the first woman to hold her position, highlighting CAF's commitment to gender equality. These appointments show CAF's dedication to diversity and unity in African football.
President Motsepe believes this new leadership will bring positive change. Okraku's rise reflects Ghana's growing influence in continental football administration. His leadership is expected to enhance CAF’s efforts to promote football across Africa.
