GFA charge Berekum Chelsea coach Samuel Boadu for misconduct after FA Cup clash against Kotoko

Berekum Chelsea's head coach, Samuel Boadu, faces charges from the Ghana Football Association (GFA). This follows his team's loss to Asante Kotoko in the MTN FA Cup semi-final at TNA Park in Tarkwa.

The GFA announced that Boadu is charged under Article 12(1)(i) of its Disciplinary Code. He is also charged under Article 34(6)(d) of the Premier League Regulations. These charges relate to his behavior after the match ended.

Reports claim that Coach Boadu confronted match officials aggressively. Witnesses say he expressed anger with inappropriate gestures and a heated tone. The GFA described his actions as “angry, fierce, and inappropriate.” They stated this conduct brings the sport into disrepute.

The GFA did not specify his exact words or gestures. However, they emphasized that such behavior violates expected standards for coaches.

Article 12(1)(i) addresses unsporting behavior that can harm the game's reputation. Article 34(6)(d) focuses on how club officials should treat referees post-match.

Boadu has until Thursday, May 15, 2025, to respond to these charges. He can accept the charges and face a sanction or contest them with a written defense. If he fails to respond by the deadline, he may face automatic penalties from the GFA Disciplinary Committee.

The semi-final match was intense, with high emotions on both sides. Boadu previously managed Hearts of Oak and won a league title there. This incident could lead to suspension at a critical time for Berekum Chelsea as their league season approaches its end.

The GFA remains committed to enforcing discipline and respect for match officials during important matches.
