GFA ends media rights negotiations with StarTimes, pursues outstanding debt

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has ended talks with StarTimes. This Chinese broadcaster was in negotiations for media broadcast rights.

On Thursday, the GFA announced that discussions stopped in March 2025. Both sides could not agree on contract terms. The previous deal expired at the end of the 2023/24 season.

After negotiations failed, the GFA notified StarTimes. They are seeking to recover USD 842,173.36 owed under the old agreement. The GFA has hired legal counsel to pursue this debt.

The GFA stated it is committed to finding a fair media partnership. They want a deal that benefits clubs, the Association, and stakeholders.

Ending talks with StarTimes is a key step for the GFA. They aim to establish new broadcast arrangements for Ghanaian football.
