GFA General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo has explained the delay in implementing VAR in the Ghana Premier League, citing financial constraints and procedural requirements.
Initially expected this season, VAR’s rollout has faced setbacks, though the GFA remains committed to improving officiating.
Addo highlighted that FIFA is working on a more affordable “VAR Light” system due to the high cost of full VAR.
Ghanaian referees have already received some training in anticipation of its introduction.
Meanwhile, the league, suspended for three weeks after a tragic fan stabbing in Nsoatre, will resume on March 7.
The GFA has introduced stricter security measures to prevent hooliganism and ensure a safer match environment for fans and officials.
