GFA loses $30,000 due to Cape Coast and Kumasi pitch invaders

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has incurred a $30,000 financial loss due to repeated pitch invasions during Black Stars matches in Ghana.

The federation was fined $20,000 for an incident at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi during Ghana’s game against the Central African Republic. Additionally, a separate pitch invasion at the Cape Coast Stadium cost the GFA another $10,000.

The trend continued during Ghana’s recent World Cup qualifier against Chad in Accra, where a 21-year-old fan, Mohammed Huzeinu, invaded the pitch. He was arrested and has been sentenced to 100 days in prison.

His actions not only disrupted the game but also posed potential financial consequences for the GFA, as pitch invasions often attract sanctions from governing bodies.

The FA hopes the latest punishment will serve as a deterrent to fans, preventing future incidents that could lead to more financial losses.
