Former Ghana international Augustine Ahinful has commented on the Ghana Football Association's (GFA) decision to appoint Stephen Appiah as deputy chairman of the Black Stars management committee.
Appiah, who captained Ghana during its maiden World Cup appearance in 2006, will support Randy Abbey in managing the national team.
Ahinful believes the appointment aims to address internal issues, particularly in player relations. “The FA should explain what they mean by player relations,” he told Sporty FM. “They likely noticed issues within the team and need someone like Appiah to foster better interaction.”
With crucial World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar approaching, following Ghana’s failure to qualify for AFCON, Ahinful stressed the importance of building trust between players and management to achieve success.
