Kurt Okraku, the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), announced a significant investment. A total of $742,000 from the FIFA Forward Programme funded a new football pitch. This is the first FIFA-standard pitch in the Upper East Region.
The facility also includes the region's first GFA Elite Football Academy. It was officially inaugurated on Tuesday, April 15, at GFA premises. This project is a major step in expanding football infrastructure in underserved areas.
During the ceremony, Mr. Okraku thanked FIFA for its support. He noted that their office in Paris has been very helpful to Ghana’s football development. "Today, our brothers and sisters in Upper East Region have access to a FIFA-certified pitch," he said.
He emphasized that this facility also hosts the first GFA Elite Football Academy in the region. Mr. Okraku confirmed that FIFA funded this project at a cost of $742,000.
In addition, the GFA presented eight Nissan 4×4 pick-up vehicles to Regional Football Associations across Ghana. These vehicles will aid grassroots football development and improve regional operations.
Mr. Okraku reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening Ghanaian football's foundation. He believes investing in infrastructure and logistics is crucial for long-term success. "This is only the beginning," he stated.
"We are dedicated to reaching every corner of the country with necessary resources," he added.
