Nana Akomea, vice chairman of the New Patriotic Party’s Manifesto Committee, has urged the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to retain Black Stars coach Otto Addo despite the team's failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Speaking on Joy FM, Akomea acknowledged the widespread calls for Addo’s dismissal but emphasized focusing on the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Ghana's AFCON qualifying campaign ended disastrously, with the team finishing last in Group F, earning just three points without a single win.

The GFA, unable to decide Addo’s future during a review meeting, plans to finalize its decision on November 27, 2024. Meanwhile, the GFA has dissolved the Black Stars management committee, signaling broader structural changes ahead of the World Cup qualifiers.
