GPL 2024/25: Gold Stars hold Hearts, as Phobians slip further away from league-leading Kotoko

Hearts of Oak's winless streak continued in the Ghana Premier League. They drew 1-1 with Bibiani Gold Stars.

Gold Stars took the lead with a penalty by Gideon Anaba. He scored in the 75th minute.

Hearts were close to losing their third straight match. However, Stephen Appiah Asare scored his debut goal in stoppage time.

There was controversy before any goals were scored. Referee Foster Bastiours initially awarded a penalty to Gold Stars.

After consulting his assistant, he changed his decision. The yellow card given to Kelvin Osei Asibey of Hearts was also rescinded.

This result means Hearts of Oak are unbeaten in four visits to Duns Park. However, they remain five points behind leaders Asante Kotoko, who have 42 points.

Hearts are currently fourth on the league table. Gold Stars hold second place with 41 points.
