Abdul Karim Zito, head coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, is worried. His team faces a crucial match against Medeama SC. The game starts at 15:00 GMT on Sunday, May 30. Kotoko needs to win to stay in the race for the 2024-2025 Ghana Premier League title.
Unfortunately, Kotoko will be without four key players. Three players are suspended due to yellow card accumulation. Striker Kwame Opoku is away on national duty with the Black Stars.
In a pre-game interview, Zito expressed his disappointment. He noted that the situation arose from a recent goalless draw with Bibiani Gold Stars. In that match, Kotoko received five yellow cards.
Defender Samba (O’Neil) Gilbani, captain Justice Blay, and midfielder Dauda Saaka will miss Sunday’s game. Zito voiced his dissatisfaction about losing these important players.
“I’m not just losing Kwame Opoku,” Zito said. “I complained to the referee about too many yellow cards.” He added that three regular players are now unavailable because of this issue. “I’m not happy but I can do nothing,” he concluded.
