Kumasi Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito spoke about his team’s recent game. He said striker Kwame Opoku's absence hurt their chances against Bibiani Gold Stars. The match ended in a goalless draw in Bibiani. This was a key matchup in the Ghana Premier League for the 2024-2025 season.
Opoku is one of four players from the Ghana League selected for the Black Stars. They will compete in the Unity Cup in London later this month.
After the game, Zito addressed criticism regarding the officials' performance. However, he emphasized that missing Opoku was a significant loss for his team.
“I missed one of my best players,” he said. “His absence affected me greatly. I wish he was here today.”
Zito acknowledged that he understands Opoku's decision to join the national team. “If Black Stars come for me, I will also go,” he added. He expressed that while he misses Opoku, he does not regret his departure.
Ghana will face Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, and Nigeria in the Unity Cup.
