GPL: Nations FC hammer Samartex to stretch lead as Gold Stars and Kotoko Draw [VIDEO]

Nations Football Club has increased its lead in the 2024-2025 Ghana Premier League. They have two games left to play. The Kumasi-based club defeated defending champions FC Samartex 3-0 at the Kwame Kyei Sports Complex. This victory gives them a three-point lead in the standings.

Nations FC is aiming for their first league title. Their chances improved when Asante Kotoko drew goalless with Bibiani Gold Stars. Kelvin Ampoful, Faisal Charwetey, and Emmanuel Annor scored for Nations FC. Annor scored in the 60th minute, Charwetey in the 75th from a penalty, and Ampoful in the 82nd.

Annor's goal was his second consecutive score. He had recently been fined by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for displaying a religious message after scoring against Kotoko.

In other matches, Kpando Heart of Lions lost ground after falling 3-1 to Young Apostles in Wenchi. In the relegation battle, Karela lost 1-0 to Vision FC. Legon Cities, already relegated, suffered a heavy defeat of 4-0 against Aduana Stars.
