Coco Gauff, ranked world number three, defeated Iga Swiatek 6-4, 6-4, claiming her second consecutive win over the former world number one.
Swiatek, now ranked second, took a medical timeout in the second set to address a thigh issue that had troubled her all week. Gauff's victory marked a perfect week at the United Cup, where she won all six of her singles and doubles matches, building momentum ahead of the Australian Open starting January 12.
Gauff, 20, expressed confidence in her game, noting that when playing well, she believes it's hard for her to be beaten. Her win also earned her team a crucial point in the mixed team event, where she continues to prepare for the upcoming Grand Slam.
