Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Vice President, George Afriyie, shared a tense episode involving former Sports Minister Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye.
Afriyie revealed that he unknowingly signed a document under GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi's direction, leading to a court case against the sports ministry. After hearing about the lawsuit on the radio, Afriyie learned the document's implications.
Vanderpuye reacted angrily, threatening Afriyie and creating a sense of fear for his safety. Afriyie, advised by Sly Tetteh, fled without luggage, fearing a setup.
This incident and trust issues contributed to the fallout between Afriyie and Nyantakyi. With the NDC back in power, Vanderpuye may be reappointed as Sports Minister, which could revive discussions about his past tenure.
