Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) vice president George Afriyie is taking legal action against retired referee Alex Kotey over bribery allegations.
Kotey, now the Referees Manager at the GFA, claimed in an interview that Afriyie once visited his home to offer him a bribe to officiate in favor of All Blacks. He stated that he refused the offer, advising Afriyie to give the money to his players instead.
Afriyie has strongly denied the allegations, stating on Kessben FM that Kotey never officiated any of his games against Kotoko. He has instructed his lawyers to take legal action.
Afriyie, who previously served as All Blacks’ CEO, helped the club gain promotion to the Ghana Premier League in 2005 before leaving in 2008.
