FIFA has confirmed that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) received over $260,000 to maintain grass pitches, including the installation of boreholes and water tanks at 80 venues across Ghana.
This initiative was meant to improve playing conditions, benefiting women’s teams and regional clubs.
However, concerns have been raised about the poor state of pitches, including the Baba Yara Stadium, which was recently deemed unfit by CAF for international matches, requiring complete reconstruction.
Despite the funds allocated for pitch improvements, many of these venues, including major stadiums, still lack the necessary upgrades.
