Ghana Olympic Committee and Commonwealth Games Federation hold Successful Extraordinary Congress

The Ghana Olympic Committee held an Extra Ordinary Assembly on April 12. It took place at the Accra International Conference Centre. The meeting concluded smoothly and credibly. President Ben Nunoo Mensah's administration showed transparency and fairness. Delegates admired the process and applauded the efforts.

Treasurer Frederick Acheampong presented the financial statement for 2023/2024. His presentation received enthusiastic applause from the delegates. Deputy Treasurer Isaac Aboagye Duah then presented the budget for 2025. The delegates unanimously approved this budget.

Samuel Ayeh (Jollof), a former athlete, praised the faultless accounts presentation. He noted that there were no disputes during this congress. Bawa Fuseini, representing Ghana Athletics, called for consistency in support. Christen Ashiley from Ghana Canoeing and Rowing requested uniform support for National Federations' fees.

Mr. Charles Asare of Ghana Cricket commended the smooth meeting without controversies. Yakubu Abdul Razak, known as 'Commando', congratulated the board on their service. He praised President Mensah's leadership over eight years and urged improvement from his successor.

After the meeting, Ben Nunoo Mensah spoke to the media. He thanked delegates for their trust in the board’s achievements. He hoped future leaders would build on these legacies. As GOC prepares for an Elective Congress on April 26, 2025, he wished candidates well.

He advised delegates to choose based on credibility and integrity. This will help maintain GOC's good brand image. He expressed gratitude to supporters and sponsors over his tenure. The media and sports enthusiasts urged the incoming board to invest savings into OlympAfrica Juvenile Sports Excellence Centre at Amasaman.
