Ghana Olympic Committee launches Communications Sub-Committee to boost Sports Visibility

The Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) has formed a new Communications Sub-Committee. This aims to improve its communication strategy and promote the Olympic Movement in Ghana.

The announcement was made on May 23, 2025. The subcommittee includes experienced professionals from communications, sports, and media.

Its goal is to revitalize Ghanaian sports by increasing visibility and public trust. The subcommittee will design and coordinate all communication activities for the GOC.

It will also serve as a link between the GOC and key audiences like federations, the public, and media. Additionally, it will provide support to national sports federations.

The GOC wants this subcommittee to showcase Ghana’s sports achievements and promote Olympic values. Mr. Ernest Danso, the GOC's 3rd Vice-President, will chair it.

Mr. Edwin Amankwah is a board member of the GOC. Mr. Edmund Ackom will serve as a Digital Consultant. Mr. Charles Osei Asibey is the Communication Director from the Ghana Armwrestling Federation.

Kenneth Odeng Adade will act as Press Officer for the Ghana Weightlifting Federation.

Mr. Richard Akpokavie, President of the GOC, expressed excitement about this development. He believes effective communication strategies will enhance stakeholder engagement and media relations.

Muniru Kassim Mohammed announced this change as Secretary-General of the GOC. This marks a new era of strategic communication for Ghanaian sports.
