Black Stars right-back Alidu Seidu has undergone successful surgery for a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), an injury he sustained while playing for Stade Rennais against Lille in Ligue 1.
Seidu was substituted after 18 minutes, and subsequent examinations revealed the severity of the injury. Stade Rennais confirmed his surgery and stated he would now focus on rehabilitation.
As a result, Seidu will miss the remainder of the season and Ghana's World Cup qualifiers in March 2024.
Despite the setback, Seidu expressed optimism about his recovery, thanking fans for their support.
Before the injury, Seidu had been in excellent form, winning Stade Rennais' Player of the Month award for September. He joined the club in January 2024 from Clermont Foot.
