Ghana is in Group C for the 2025 TotalEnergies CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The tournament will be held in Egypt from April 27 to May 18.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) held a new draw on April 13, 2025. This was after Côte d’Ivoire withdrew as hosts. Tunisia has replaced them in the competition.
In Group C, Ghana will compete against Senegal, DR Congo, and the Central African Republic. Group A includes hosts Egypt, Zambia, Sierra Leone, South Africa, and Tanzania. Group B features Nigeria, Kenya, and newcomers Tunisia.
The top two teams from each group will qualify for the quarter-finals. Additionally, the two best third-placed teams will also advance. The four semi-finalists will qualify for the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile this September and October.
Ghana has a strong history in youth football. They have won the U-20 AFCON four times: in 1993, 1999, 2009, and 2021. Ghana also famously won the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Egypt in 2009.
