Ghana forward Joseph Paintsil to be sidelined for 6 to 8 weeks

Los Angeles Galaxy has suffered a major setback ahead of the 2025 MLS season, as star winger Joseph Paintsil will be sidelined for 6-8 weeks due to a quad injury.

The Ghanaian international, who played a key role in the club’s title-winning campaign last season, will miss the opening matches.

Paintsil, 27, had an impressive debut season in 2024 after joining from Belgian side Genk for $10 million, recording 10 goals and 10 assists in the regular season and contributing significantly in the playoffs.

His absence, along with that of injured midfielder Riqui Puig, leaves LA Galaxy short on attacking options.

The team will begin their title defense on February 23 against expansion side San Diego FC, hoping to overcome these early-season challenges.
