Ghana legend Michael Essien opens up on Real Madrid's winning mentality

Former Ghana international Michael Essien has revealed why Real Madrid remains so successful in football.

Speaking to Sporty FM, Essien, who spent a season at the club on loan from Chelsea during Jose Mourinho's tenure, emphasized that at Real Madrid, it’s “win or nothing.”

He noted that with a team of world-class players, the coach often doesn’t need to say much, as the players can resolve issues on the field.

Essien acknowledged that while Real Madrid is currently facing challenges, they will likely recover.

Reflecting on his time there, he also mentioned that playing against rivals Atletico Madrid could be particularly frustrating. Essien made 21 appearances and scored two goals during the 2012/13 season.
